DAILY REVIEW03 Sept 2026

Daily Pulse — 3 Sep 2026

Frontier-model releases and AI-enabled control advanced across software and fusion, while BCI commercialization activity broadened. ASI Readiness remains 59.03 (Δ 0.00 today) and Singularity Readiness 53.19 (Δ 0.00 today); both deltas reflect the prior methodology recalibration, not a new capability regression. The 5Y/10Y ASI forecast remains 30%/81%, central estimate 2032–33.

ANALYSIS

Methodology note: Historical index values on this Pulse are normalized to the current methodology for comparability. The original as-published record remains unchanged in the canonical archive.

DAILY PULSE // 3 SEP 2026

ASI Readiness: 59.03 (Δ 0.00 today) Singularity Readiness: 53.19 (Δ 0.00 today) ASI forecast: 5Y 30% (0 pp) · 10Y 81% (0 pp) · central estimate 2032–33

Historical values are displayed on the current methodology; the prior methodology rebase is normalized out and does not count as current score movement.

What changed

Google releases Gemini 3.8 Flash and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber. Google launched Gemini 3.8 Flash as a generally available frontier model aimed at long-horizon software engineering, autonomous agents and complex workflows, alongside a restricted Cyber variant for trusted defenders. The release and GA status are independently corroborated. Google's benchmark claims remain provider claims unless separately reproduced.

Anthropic releases Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1. First-party model pages confirm the model identities, release date, API availability and access split: Fable is generally available, while Mythos is restricted to vetted trusted-access programs. Independent technology press corroborates the launch and access distinction. Anthropic's benchmark, safety-performance and workload-efficiency claims are not treated as independently reproduced.

PACMAN integrates AI prediction and control across five DIII-D fusion experiments. PPPL and Princeton researchers report a modular real-time architecture used for reinforcement-learning heating control, event prediction and instability avoidance. The work is peer-reviewed in Nuclear Fusion. That verifies the reported DIII-D demonstration, but it is not yet an independently reproduced multi-device result.

Google launches agentic video understanding across Gemini Flash models. The system dynamically searches and reinspects video segments across frames, audio and transcripts. The launch itself is directly verified by Google. Reported gains of up to 88% lower token use, 66% lower analysis cost and 7% higher accuracy are first-party benchmark claims and remain unreproduced in the canonical evidence.

Merge Labs licenses Butterfly's Ultrasound-on-Chip technology for BCI development. The multi-year agreement gives Merge access to Butterfly's Poseidon platform and establishes Butterfly as its exclusive CMOS-MEMS chip-based ultrasound partner. Independent reporting corroborates the agreement. This expands the development path for ultrasound-based BCI, but it does not demonstrate a working BCI.

Readiness and forecast

No change. The new canonical events are consequential, but they do not by themselves establish enough new, independently reproduced capability evidence to move ASI Readiness, Singularity Readiness or the ASI horizon forecast.

BOTTOM LINE: The strongest signal is breadth rather than a single decisive breakthrough: frontier agentic models are advancing while AI moves deeper into real-time physical control. Verification quality remains mixed, from independently confirmed releases to peer-reviewed but not independently reproduced experimental systems. The central trajectory is unchanged.
